Space Mountain catapult

We designed the catapult for the Space Mountain (2 MW, 50 km/h, 1.5g), system with an extrremely high duty factor (one launch every 36s, i.e. over 1,200 a day).

Consideration of rope fatigue phenomena (on sheaves and drums, and at the attachment point on the pusher) led to the development of a very special attachment system (adjustable and removable), and to deep analyses regarding the rope bending fatigue behavior.

We are still involved in the rope NDT inspection today.

DEP is also qualified by DisneyLand Paris to supply highly critical parts.
