Renovation project to dismantle and rebuild an 800 m long, 1.60 m diameter penstock after nearly 60 years of operation. The aerial ropeway was used to transport and remove pipes of up to 12m and 15T, and could also be fitted with a skip (rubble or concrete) weighing up to 15T. The load was traveling above workplaces of operators
DEP was called in to bring the existing machine into compliance with French labor law requirements (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC). This involved installing access points and walkways on the towers, redesigning the control system including data transmission systems, and modifying the reeving system to obtain a safety factor of 10 on the hoisting system.
DEP and its partners (MTI Chabert, C2ei) managed the manufacturing, installation and operation of the machine.
The machine was operated as part of the replacement of the downstream section of the penstock for 24 months, including more than 12 months on two shifts, 6 days a week.
