Installation

The underground laboratory's network of galleries, located at depths of 490 meters, enables scientists to carry out research and tests required for the Cigéo project.

As part of the sinking of the two shafts (500 m) and the excavation of the laboratory galleries, DEP designed all the transport and lifting equipment (main elevator (14 places), emergency elevator (8 places), load transport (10T). Some of these equipments were subsequently modified and integrated into the laboratory's final equipment. They all fall within the scope of the Machine Directive 2006/42/EC or the Lift Directive 95/16/EC.

In addition to designing and monitoring the manufacture of standard components, DEP also supplied safety components (parachute, overspeed governor, shock absorbers, door locking system) with EC type-examination certificates.
