Renovations and upgrade designed by DEP Engineering
We have been working on the Eiffel Tower lifts since 2004:
- Risk assessment analysis regarding the renovation of the control system of the EST lift (AMEC-Spie).
- Bench testing of the North lift parachute (Baudin Chateauneuf).
- Ropes inspection of North, East and West lifts (SETE).
- Feasibility study regarding West lift renovation and upgrade (SETE).
- Renovation of West lift (Baudin Chateauneuf).
- Supply of sheaves for the East lift (SETE).
- Reinforcement of North lift (SETE).

Bench testing
- The parachute system consists of three main units: a gripping unit, a damping unit and a overspeed governor.
- The validation of the design of the parachute system required free-fall qualification tests on a test bench. These tests are essential to guarantee the system's reliability and efficiency in real-life conditions.

Operation (support)
- Definition and development of a specific measuring head.
- Definition of workstations for operators and associated risk assessment analysis.
- Visual inspection of ropes and sheaves every six months, and NDT (electro-magnetic) inspection of ropes every six months.

Production supervision
Assembly of three independent sheaves (4m head sheaves and 3m pit sheaves) mounted on the same shaft.
Each sheave can be completely dismantled, hub, arm and rim ifself in several parts.
